Fire, Earth, Air and Water: The Four Elements of the Zodiac Explained

Before memorizing the twelve signs, learn the four elements. They are the grammar of the zodiac: every sign belongs to an elemental family, and that family explains a great deal of its temperament.

Fire — Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

Earth — Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

Air — Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

Air is idea, word and connection. Air signs think, communicate and socialize with ease. The risk is living only in the head: plenty of theory, little presence. In balance, air is the bridge between people.

Water — Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

Water is emotion, intuition and depth. Water signs feel the room before a single word is spoken. Their challenge is not drowning in their own ocean — sensitivity without a shore becomes high tide.
